So another year has begun. A fresh start. A chance to get it right.
Or maybe not.
Maybe just more of the same.
Yesterday in my online newsfeed, I saw a headline "AP Poll: Americans Optimistic for 2007". OK, I thought, this is good. Then further down "Americans Predict Doom and Gloom in 2007". Hmm. What could this mean? Obviously two different polling approaches. NOT! Both were stories about the same poll taken by AP/AOL December 12-14. Just different emphasis.
So go ahead and choose; is the cup half empty or half full?
Well, not to be too wishy-washy about it, the reality is that most of the time it is both. For me, on the micro level, life is good. We are not rich, but have enough. A small but pleasant home, a successful business, good friends. On the macro level, not so good - world in chaos, madman at the helm, we spiral off into who knows what.
Lots to be paranoid about.
"Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not after me."
Time for a resolution. No matter how much there is to be paranoid about in this new year, I will not lose sight of the good things, nor fall into the conspiracy trap (at least not without good evidence!).
Peace to you all.
